Pizza Express Morpeth

At Morpeth Cubit3D have created an exciting & contemporary restaurant within a rather lovely historic bank building. By carefully & sympathetically peeling back layers of abuse and revealing and enhancing hidden features the Cubit team were able to create a wonderful backdrop for the new restaurant design. Featuring a double height atrium entrance with domed light feature and huge mirrored artwork to reflect the maximum ambient light the restaurant is now a local landmark.

The flower x-ray featured on the staircase celebrates the life of famous botanist William Turner, born in Morpeth around 1508. Printed onto 4M high mirror wall panels the photograph visually links the front and rear of the building whilst also helping to reflect light into a previously dark upper floor.

The plant theme is further explored in the restaurant through the use of specially designed fret-cut wall panelling & using the pattern of leaf skeletons as 3d reliefs to create interesting light effects on the walls to the first floor and adjacent to the Pizzaiola.
