White feather – Spirit of Lennon

Whilst working on the Pierhead extension, The Beatles Story also asked Cubit3D to design the inaugural exhibition for their new travelling exhibition galleries. Concentrating on Julian and Cynthia Lennon’s unique experience, White Feather looks at what it was like living with one of the most famous men of the 20th century, John Lennon.

Engaging visitors' emotions is key to the overall design approach of the exhibition. The content is moving and highly personal, a warm retelling of a familiar story but with the unique insights and reminiscences of Cynthia and Julian as they guide you through the stories. This has been achieved by using Julian and Cynthia’s own handwriting as well as specially recorded video and audio installations. Many iconic images have been reproduced often ‘over scale’ as a contrast to the smaller more personal artefacts. This helps to reinforce the difference in the fame of the Lennon image and the reality of the family man.
