Eldon Square has undergone some major refurbishment in recent years and consequently the new build restaurant that Cubit3D designed there had to face stiff competition from other major high street restaurant brands. The design of the restaurant clearly had to really stand out and be something a little different. As the unit offered a double height space we were able to develop an exciting open plan restaurant with a dramatic mezzanine restaurant floor complimented by a bold retro styled shopfront echoing the 1960’s roots of the company. The restaurant showcases specially commissioned artwork features including the ‘dynamic line’ feature in striking black and white that reflects the colour scheme of the city’s famous ‘Magpies’ football team. Complementing this are wall graphics and toilet signs featuring local colloquialisms rendered in a pop art style reminiscent of the work of 1960’s and Sgt Pepper artist Peter Blake.
